Chinese delegation visits Cevotec and Ludwig Bölkow Campus

A delegation from Chinese Liangjiang New Area visited Cevotec and Ludwig Bölkow Campus on April 5. The representatives of research and industry currently explore Germany’s high-tech industry 4.0 scene to establish promising business relations.

Founded as the third national development and opening zone in China 2010, Liangjiang New Area has already become one of the world’s most important investment destinations. The industry and development park is located in the main urban area of Chongqing, it covers an area of 1200 square kilometers and has a permanent population of 2.24 million people. The zone includes for example the free trade port area at the north of the Yangtze River and 550 square kilometers of potential development area. Now the managers are looking explicitly in Germany for cooperation partners and investment opportunities or partners for the parks on site.

“It was a great honor to be among the companies the delegation selected for a personal visit”, reports Thorsten Groene, Managing Director of Cevotec. “Cevotec’s smart production and automation technology perfectly met the interests of the delegation”, explains Judith Tietel, project coordinator of DCAA (German-Chinese Society for exchange and training), why DCAA arranged the meeting.

The ten delegation members took strong interest in structure and operating mode of the Ludwig Bölkow Campus, where Cevotec is located, presented by Alexander Mager, Managing Director of the Campus GmbH, and were deeply impressed by the Fiber Patch Placement technology demonstrated and explained by Groene. “Liangjiang New Area meanwhile is a large global manufacturing bases of cars and also aerospace industry is represented there. And our intelligent production technology for complex carbon fiber components offers great advantages particularly for aerospace and automotive”, informs Groene.

Based on Fiber Patch Placement technology, Cevotec offers a preforming system that enables manufacturers to additively build complex carbon fiber parts fully automated and in high volumes. “With our preforming system SAMBA and the associated CAD-CAM software ARTIST STUDIO, we achieve a continuous preforming process from CAD-CAM to automated 3D fiber preforming. The integrated production solution fits for complex geometries, tailored reinforcements and also design surfaces. Most important for lightweight-obliged aerospace and automotive industry: The mechanical properties of the finished part are increased up to 150% by using up to 30% less material”, concludes Groene.

About DCAA

Since its founding in 1998, the DCAA has been organizing training and exchange travels for official Chinese delegations. The society is registered and certified partner of the SAFEA (States Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs), a government agency that regulates the exchange of experts between China and abroad. Every year the DCAA receives over 20 delegations from national ministries as well as from individual schools. The interests range from business and industry to education and planning. Also, China tours of German experts and international conferences are organized by DCAA.
